Matin Hemmat, MD

Dr. Matin Hemmat is a physician, clinical innovator, and Co-Founder of Prosperous Health and Prosperous Medical. Board-certified in Addiction Medicine and Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, he brings a comprehensive medical perspective to the treatment of addiction, co-occurring mental health conditions, and the complex needs that shape recovery.

Dr. Hemmat graduated with highest honors in biopsychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and earned his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine of USC. He completed residency and fellowship training at Eisenhower Medical Center and USC/Los Angeles General Medical Center, with additional training at the Hazelden Betty Ford Center. His background spans internal medicine, critical care, complex pain management, and addiction medicine.

As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Hemmat translates that experience into the clinical standards, evidence-driven protocols, and integrated treatment programs that guide the organization’s care. He has developed and expanded Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), and outpatient services for people with substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions. His leadership encompasses physician development, clinical quality, healthcare technology, and strategic growth, with an emphasis on individualized treatment and continuity of care.

Dr. Hemmat serves on the medical staff of Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center and Torrance Memorial Medical Center, where his leadership experience includes clinical quality oversight, ethics, and physician peer review. His contributions have earned multiple physician excellence awards, including Physician of the Year recognition at each of the three South Bay community hospitals where he has served as an addiction medicine consultant.

Raised on the Palos Verdes Peninsula and fluent in English, Farsi, and Spanish, Dr. Hemmat remains closely connected to the communities he serves. His work reflects a clear purpose: to make rigorous, compassionate medical care the foundation of a more hopeful future for patients and families.

I believe we have a responsibility to meet that moment with compassion, honesty, and exceptional care.

That responsibility is at the heart of why I co-founded Prosperous Health and Prosperous Medical.

Addiction and mental health conditions can affect every part of a person’s life. They can disrupt sleep, strain relationships, compromise physical health, and make ordinary responsibilities feel overwhelming. Too often, people carry shame alongside those struggles. You deserve a place where you can speak openly, be treated with dignity, and receive care that takes the full picture seriously.

My medical training and work across hospital and behavioral health settings have shaped a conviction I bring to every program we build: understanding the person is essential to treating the condition. Physical health, emotional well-being, substance use, pain, and life circumstances are interconnected. Good care requires us to consider them together—and to keep listening as your needs change.

At Prosperous, we put that belief into practice through physician-led, individualized treatment. We want you to understand your options, have a voice in your care, and know why a particular treatment is being recommended. Your progress should guide our decisions. When something is not helping, we need to recognize it, reassess, and respond thoughtfully.
